Looking for something to watch in July 2026? Good news: the platforms have not slowed down for summer. Animated Marvel, sci-fi, a British thriller, and a French crime drama adapted from one of the country's most-read authors. Here are the 5 new series arriving on streaming platforms this month.
X-Men '97, Season 2: the most anticipated Marvel follow-up of the summer (Disney+, July 1, 2026)
Season 1 of X-Men '97 surprised everyone last year, including people who expected a simple nostalgia trip. It was tense, emotional, faithful to the spirit of the comics, and not the least bit dumbed down. Season 2 arrives with 9 episodes airing weekly on Disney+. If you have not caught up on Season 1 yet, this is the perfect summer to binge it all.
Silo, Season 3: the best sci-fi series around returns (Apple TV+, July 3, 2026)
One of the best sci-fi series in streaming continues with a third season of 10 episodes on Apple TV+. In this post-apocalyptic world where humanity survives inside an underground silo, the questions of truth, control, and survival only get more complicated. If you have not seen Silo yet, Seasons 1 and 2 are already available. It is the kind of show you finish too fast and regret bingeing in a single week.
The Iris Affair, Season 1: the new thriller to follow on HBO Max (July 9, 2026)
An original creation from Neil Cross, the writer behind Luther. The Iris Affair follows a lone genius being pursued by a very wealthy investor who has decided she belongs to him, one way or another. Niamh Algar in the lead role, Tom Hollander opposite her. A cat-and-mouse thriller with a heroine who clearly is not waiting to be rescued. Highly anticipated.
Twice Upon a Time, Season 1: the French crime drama of the summer (HBO Max, July 16, 2026)
Adapted from the novel by Franck Thilliez, one of France's best-selling thriller authors (more than 500,000 copies sold). A police captain picks up an investigation after losing twelve years of memories. Starring Odile Vuillemin and Hubert Delattre, this mini-series first aired on France 2 before landing on HBO Max. French crime dramas can be excellent when done right, and a Thilliez adaptation on a major platform deserves attention.
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, Season 1: the summer's pleasant surprise (HBO Max, July 24, 2026)
The Big Bang Theory spin-off nobody asked for, but which might just be the light-hearted thing you should not skip. Kevin Sussman returns as Stuart, the somewhat depressed comic-shop manager, who accidentally becomes responsible for a multiversal catastrophe. Chuck Lorre producing, sci-fi comedy up front. It is this month's light-hearted pick, and it owns it.
